Football as a sport is one of the biggest sports played in the eastlands areas of Nairobi. With over 500 football teams across the slums consisting of both young boys and girls aged from 10, from places like Mathare, Huruma, Kariobangi, Korogocho, babadogo and many more.
Choosing football as a space to educate these kids, raises awareness of the impacts of climate change by educating them on SDGs and importance of sustainability
Football is their most safe space growing up.These kids come from broken homes, extreme poverty striken families, drug addiction, crimes. Each and everyone of them has a story to tell.
Hence when we keep the on the pitch, through tournaments or support them in their local leagues like MYSA(Mathare Youth Sports Association) they all forget about their troubles. GreenPlay seeks support to enable these kids play for a new and better course to change their lives and impact their communities through sustaibility for a better future.
